Joe Hubback

Joe is an accomplished company leader, board member and advisor with extensive experience in the cybersecurity, technology and industrial sectors. Over the past 20 years, Joe has evolved from frontline to company leader, delivering strategic impact and profit growth.

As part of the founding leadership team at ISTARI Global, he led the EMEA region, driving direct client revenue. Additionally, he served on the board of Sygnia, an elite cyber consulting and MXDR business, where he contributed to double-digit revenue and profit growth, raised investment and developed strategic initiatives.

Previously, Joe was the Managing Director of the UK and Nordics for Keller, the world’s largest geotechnical specialist contractor. Prior to that, he was a Partner at McKinsey & Co, where he spent 8 years co-founding the cybersecurity practice developing their first cyber maturity assessment framework. He started his career at ICI Plc, where he spent nearly 10 years in various engineering operational and commercial roles, having been sponsored by the company to do his engineering science degree at the University of Oxford.

In 2020, Joe authored the report “Cybersecurity Technology Efficacy: Is Cybersecurity the New Market for Lemons?”, which outlines how efficacy problems in cybersecurity are primarily due to economic incentives, not technological constraints. The report addresses three key themes to ultimately arrive at the consensus on how to approach a new model and guide companies on how to accomplish better cybersecurity.
