The challenge
Technology continues to evolve at a rapid rate and with the increasing pace of AI adoption, customer and employee propositions are in a period of unprecedented change. This transition is not coming from a small cohort of leading companies, rather from the vast landscape of startups with the agility and backing to innovate at pace.
In this rapidly evolving market, our client’s leaders wanted to ensure they stay in touch with the evolving and ahead of their peers. They wanted to come together to align their perspective on the market, and come away with an understanding of how they use this to progress their business, recognising how to navigate large, complex organisations.
Our client sought our support in delivering a development programme for senior leaders focused on building forward-looking mindsets ready to deliver on innovation opportunities. Our role was to move this programme from theoretical to practical, leveraging our external innovation network and expertise in leadership transformation. The practical was focused on driving change at pace, harnessing inspiration from start-ups and adapting it to large organisational complexities.
The series started with the CEOs of our client’s flagship companies, and was followed up with an event for the executive team of the client’s internal Technology company. Following this, we were tasked with delivering a large-scale immersion event to over 110 COOs and technology-focused c-suite members of the client’s companies across the world.
The approach
Through a targeted series of events, we developed a bespoke agenda of startups, venture capital firms and leaders in corporate innovation and exposed senior leaders to these opportunities. These talks targeted a broad range of use cases and areas of technology, and were interspersed with workshops to reflect on the learnings, identify opportunities to take forward, and broaden the leadership mindset to be future ready.
To develop these agendas, we worked with stakeholders to understand priorities and focus areas of interest to attendees. We then harnessed our extensive innovation network to longlist companies and worked with them to develop and select only the best presentations to feature. We organised all logistics including social networking opportunities and workshops to anchor the attendees.
The value delivered
The events evolved and aligned the mindset of business and technology leadership in how they can effectively deliver and scale innovation across their organisation. Innovative market solutions were identified and prioritised as opportunities to deliver on their ambitions. The events kicked-off the design of a Group-wide Innovation Framework, shared with the organisation’s COOs for early feedback on its objectives. This Innovation Framework is introducing greater speed and flexibility that is unlocking value from best of breed solutions.
