Global consumer product goods business and manufacturer: Sourcing strategy for ERP transformation 

With their on-prem SAP ECC solution nearing end-of-life, a global consumer product goods business and manufacturer sought a strategic partner to implement SAP S/4HANA. We leveraged collaborative solutioning to evaluate and shortlist systems integrators, facilitating workshops and stakeholder alignment to deliver a final partner recommendation and sourcing strategy tailored to our client’s unique business needs.

The challenge

As SAP ECC approached end-of-life, many global enterprises faced pressure to modernise systems and migrate to SAP S/4HANA. Our client, with its complex manufacturing and distribution footprint, required a strategic, future-proofed partner selection process. With high stakes and market complexity, a structured, insight-driven approach was essential to make a confident partner decision. 

Our client needed to identify and select a systems integration partner to lead their SAP S/4HANA transformation. The challenge included evaluating a wide vendor landscape, aligning internal business unit priorities and navigating technical, commercial and cultural considerations – all while ensuring long-term strategic fit.

The approach

We used a collaborative solutioning approach to narrow a long list of vendors through market research, evaluation criteria and stakeholder input. We facilitated multi-week workshops across business functions, normalised commercial proposals and compiled insights into briefing packs. Lightning feedback loops ensured iterative alignment and a final report summarised and recommended the optimal partner. 

Impact

Our sourcing strategy helped our client align around a partner choice that met both business and cultural needs. The final recommendation provided clarity and confidence to move forward with transformation planning. Our advisory extended into a follow-up support, to conduct scenario planning, enabling data-driven financial alignment and decision-making across stakeholders.
