Elixirr and The Atlas Foundation partner to take DigiBus further

Elixirr and The Atlas Foundation are partnering to take DigiBus further, turning a proven model for digital education on wheels into a scalable blueprint that can reach more underserved communities.

We are proud to announce our partnership with The Atlas Foundation, a global children’s charity, in support of DigiBus, helping turn a proven model for digital education on wheels into a scalable blueprint that can reach more underserved communities.

DigiBus is the answer to making high-quality education safe and accessible. Millions of children in underserved communities grow up without meaningful access to quality education. Geography, infrastructure and technology can shape what they are able to learn before they even walk through a classroom door. The Atlas Foundation operates in these communities to provide young people without access the opportunities they deserve.

A fully equipped, safe digital classroom on wheels, DigiBus travels between schools and communities where access to technology is limited. At each location, students step on board for lessons, building foundational and digital skills – from maths to computer literacy and through the Digi-AI Bus in Kenya, AI, coding and robotics.

Proven and ready to travel further

DigiBus is already delivering remarkable results. Two buses currently operate across South Africa and Kenya, reaching more than 2,000 learners and 10 schools every week.

In Langa, Cape Town, Grade 4 learners achieved a 184-point improvement in Lexile reading scores in 2025, compared with a global benchmark of 50 to 100 points, alongside a 23% improvement in maths.

The opportunity now is to take what works and make it accessible in more places, for more children.

Elixirr is building the blueprint to scale what works

Launching a new DigiBus is not straightforward. Each requires a six-figure investment, a capable local delivery partner and coordinated decisions across curriculum, technology, safeguarding, infrastructure and operations. Until now, much of the knowledge required to make that happen has lived with the people who launched the first buses.

Elixirr has worked with The Atlas Foundation to change that.

The DigiBus Blueprint captures the full journey in one place – from assessing community need to launch and impact reporting – giving Atlas and future partners a clear, practical guide to replicating what has already worked so well. DigiBus now also has its own microsite that gives funders a single place to understand the need it solves, how it works, what it has achieved and how they can bring their own to life.

Made possible by the Elixirr Foundation

This work has been delivered pro bono with the support of the Elixirr Foundation, continuing a program of projects the Foundation has supported since 2009.

The Foundation is built on three pillars: education, technology and entrepreneurship. DigiBus sits at the heart of all three and we are proud to support the Atlas Foundation in taking DigiBus further.

For Elixirr, the partnership builds on our longstanding connection with South Africa. Our Founder and CEO, Stephen Newton, is South African, some of Elixirr’s earliest clients were South African businesses we still advise today, and we have offices in both Johannesburg and Cape Town.

In 2026, we launched the inaugural Elixirr South African Prospects Accelerator in Cape Town with Oxbridge Prospects. 29 high-potential students from underserved communities spent eight intensive days being equipped with the skills, confidence and exposure needed to shape their futures.

This sits alongside our existing Data & AI Academy, a free, intensive training course designed to give graduates in-demand skills and a genuine pathway into the workforce.

With DigiBus, we are extending that commitment and doubling down on our core belief that background should not limit potential. See how we’re creating opportunities for the next generation.

Learn more about the Atlas Foundation

The Atlas Foundation exists to help care, support and guide deprived children towards a better future. It is a launchpad for good that enables local projects in the UK and around the world to make a tangible impact on the daily lives of young people who suffer from extreme hardships. Atlas aims to help children that have been subjected to horrifying suffering whether it be malnourishment, disease, sex trafficking, rape, extreme inequality, or violence. Working with their partners, Atlas use rugby initiatives to deliver health, education, and inclusion programs. So far, they have provided safe havens offering food, clean water, teaching, coaching and guidance to over 200,000 children in dire need.
