News We celebrate our 10 year anniversary & release ‘Airtime’ Entrepreneurs take flight 23 Sep 2019 — 2 min read The Team Elixirr As part of our tenth anniversary celebrations, we are excited to release an Elixirr original series, ‘Airtime’. During the series, Stephen Newton, Elixirr’s Founder & Managing Partner, interviews the Founders and CEOs of some of the world’s most innovative and disruptive companies. By flying them over the places that shaped who they are today, Airtime brings you the stories of successful entrepreneurs. Find out where they get their drive from, how they made it, and who inspired them along the way. Episodes in the series are: Episode 1: Alan Barratt, co-Founder & CEO, Grenade How do you go from £27 in your bank account to building a £72m business? After dropping out of school at 17, Alan tells Stephen how he built a single sports nutrition product into a mainstream lifestyle brand. With 150,000 bars sold every day, Grenade’s famous Carb Killa bar is the second best-selling chocolate bar in UK grocery channels. Episode 2: Dale Klapmeier, co-Founder, Cirrus Aircraft Dale Klapmeier went from restoring aeroplanes in a barn to building the globally recognised leader in general aviation, Cirrus Aircraft. 174 people have returned home safely to their families as a result of the inclusion of the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS) as a standard feature on all Cirrus aircraft. Dale sits alongside the Wright brothers in the National Aviation Hall of Fame. Episode 3: Michel Feaster, co-Founder & CEO, Usermind After dropping out of Harvard, Michel managed convenience stores. Her journey then took her to becoming a leading Silicon Valley tech executive and Seattle enterprise tech startup founder. Mentored by Ben Horowitz and backed by almost $50 million of venture capital funding, Michel continues to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs, advocating for veteran and LGBTQ communities. Stephen Newton started (and failed!) three businesses before finding success with Elixirr. Because of this, he is passionate about supporting and empowering entrepreneurs. He has built Elixirr and designed Airtime around this principle. Stephen comments: The spirit of aviation has a lot in common with the spirit of entrepreneurship – the relentless desire to achieve the seemingly impossible. Having reached the 10 year milestone with Elixirr, we’ve learned a lot of lessons along the way and like any entrepreneurial journey, it’s not been easy! With Airtime, we want to share the stories of those who have been successful in business to inspire the Founders and CEOs of today, and the future. The full boxset is now available to watch here. We’re looking forward to hearing what you think! Let us know here. We’re proud to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and would like to extend a huge thank you to our clients and everyone in our innovation ecosystem.
