As part of this bank’s technology transformation journey and their continuous efforts to accelerate the delivery of their change agenda, the CTO, Infrastructure Services and Technology HR teams embarked on an innovation scouting exercise.

Why Elixirr?

We have a long-term strategic partnership with this bank. Since 2014, we have been working with senior stakeholders to help drive and embed the technology change agenda. Our intricate knowledge of their journey, combined with our innovation expertise and extensive close network in Silicon Valley made us their first choice of partner for this work.

The challenge

The leadership team were looking to find partners who could:

  • provide innovative technology and processes that could help secure a competitive advantage for the bank in the market
  • understand how to best drive culture
  • measure success, use data and collaborate

The approach

We started by defining 14 innovation focus areas for the team to explore. These included ‘data centre of the future’, automation, cloud enablement, storage optimisation, DevOps and Agile, and integration.

We then used our innovation network to scout for possible solutions to their issues in these core areas. We assessed and prioritised relevant potential partners.

The value

8 of the bank’s leaders met with 57 startups, new technologies and VCs in and around Silicon Valley in just 8 days. 33 partners were identified, and 10 proofs of concepts were established. What a week!
