Vaughan has almost 30 years’ experience in financial services regulation having started his career as a supervisor at the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and its predecessors (TSA & SFA). After 12 years as a regulator, he spent a similar period of time in senior regulatory and governance roles at Credit Suisse and UBS. He was Deputy Head of Compliance at the investment banking arms of both organisations with responsibilities that included overseeing regulatory relationships and managing a number of high profile regulatory investigations. Whilst at UBS, he moved from Compliance to work directly for the bank’s EMEA Group CEO, overseeing regulatory and reputational risk across the region and enhancing regional governance arrangements.
Before joining us, Vaughan co-founded specialist regulatory and governance consultancy Medius in 2013 advising a broad range of clients ranging from large investment banks through to the financial services arms of motor manufacturers and airlines. Medius was acquired by Elixirr in 2018 to enhance the value we can bring to clients around the world as the ever-evolving regulatory environment expands its footprint within and beyond the traditional financial services sector.
Vaughan’s particular expertise includes working with senior executives and directors on governance issues, particularly in response to the expansion of individual accountability regimes in the UK and elsewhere.
